As a result, a 3-minute round, mouth guard and a stipulated 30-second count, in event of boxer unable to continue the match was introduced to the sport.

Boxing bouts in different weight categories

It would be pertinent to mention here that boxing opponents would be chosen pertaining to similar weight categories. In event of the boxer having an upcoming fight, he or she would bring the weight down within the official weight limits. It would mostly be done a day prior to the fight. Earlier, there were eight primary weight categories. Presently, there have been 17 professional major weight classes.

Nutrition has been deemed imperative for all athletes. However, when it comes to boxers, he or she should be able to make the most of the nutrition and training to stay healthy and fit. The diet plays an important role in keeping the boxer healthy and in shape. The diet should be inclusive of good fats, lean protein and carbohydrates. These would help you in your performance levels and reach the target weight in the best manner possible. Protein shakes would be a good option for boxers who wish to add supplements to their diet plan. It would be a great workout aid along with protein bars to add power and strength to the boxer in the right manner. Every boxer should incorporate 15% of fats, 30-40% protein and 45-55%carbohydrates in their diet.
